This is the second time that God told a patriarch to "replenish"
the earth.
|
Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto
them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,
and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the
sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living
thing that moveth upon the earth. |
|
Replenish - the earth was populated at a earlier time.
Even before Genesis.
|
Genesis 9:1
And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them,
Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

II Peter 3:4-7
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for
since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as
they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by
the word of God the heavens were of
old, and the earth standing out of the water
and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed
with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by
the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire
against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly
men. |

Please note in the verses above "the heavens were
of old", this has nothing to do with Noah's flood but the catabole.
