Was the book of Johah a "Fish Story?"

The book of Johah is often one of the most criticized books of the bible, often being called "a fish story."

Some time ago I was listening to a pastor discussing the book of Jonah and I got some really good information about Jonah's task and the people of Nineveh. Here is the way that I understand the story of Nineveh.

Knowing more about Nineveh would be of some help here. Nineveh worshiped a "fish god!", Dagon! (see picture). Knowing this, how else would God send a prophet to a pagan country to spark a revival. Can you imagine if your god was a fish, and one day a giant fish came to the shore and regurgitated a man! That man then preached about the true God! According to both my former and present Pastors there was a 100% conversion in Nineveh from the fish god to the true God. I can't see any other way to do it, can you?

I believe that Jonah was dead, he died in the fish and was resurrected when he arrived at Nineveh. The Bible states that he was raised from corruption. Please see the actual Bible verse below.

Jonah
2:6   I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

Corruption means (destruction, ditch, grave, pit.) This story is no more impossible, in my opinion than the resurrection of Elisha after Elijah pleaded with God to bring him back, and the resurrection of Lazarus by Jesus in the book of Acts.

See proof that Jonah actually went to Assyria.
