Antichrist Identified

First let's take a quick look at the four verses in the KJV Bible that discuss Antichrist.

I Jn 2:18; 2:22; 4:3; 2 Jn 7
4:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

II Jn 7
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Antichrist can be looked at in three ways:

  1. Notable people throughout history, world leaders that work to remove God or Religion from their country.

  2. Political and religious movements. This includes:
    • Famous persons that work to remove the Christ and God from public visibility in the world. This includes the removal of the cross and Christmas from public places.
    • Religious leaders that work to remove the Christian faith from the world. Since it is every Christian's duty to spread the word, these would be false prophets.
    • Book authors and public speakers who assist in removing Christ from the public or give false teachings of Christ.
  3. The actual person who will falsely claim to be Christ.

For many years, being a Christian myself but not spending a great deal of time studying these issues, I believed that since Christ was born of woman that Antichrist would enter this world in a similar manner but with a opposite purpose.

As Christian Americans, we have come to accept the word "anti" to be opposite, against, preventing as in antifreez, antisocial... etc. Well this is true, Antichrist is opposed to Christ but in the Greek (Strong's Greek dictionary, numbers 500 which points back to the prime 473 below:

NT:500

antichristos, an-tee'-khris-tos; from NT:473 and NT:5547; an opponent of the Messiah:

KJV - antichrist.

NT:473

anti, an-tee'; a primary particle; opposite, i.e. instead or because of (rarely in addition to):

KJV - for, in the room of. Often used in composition to denote contrast, requital, substitution, correspondence, etc.

As you can see in both of these Greek definations, Antichrist means opposite (instead or because of), this is the key. Antichrist is a individual that is going to claim to be Christ but will be opposed to the prupose of the true Christ, that is, salvation.

Many lines of thought abound about "Who will the antichrist be? where Will he come from? Is he here with us now?"

Before I attempt to answer these questions, let me show you a few Bible verses that will provide vital information which will reveal the identy of antichrist.

Revelation 12:7-9 KJV
12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The point here is to identify the dragon, that old serpant is the Devil! (Satan).

Revelation 13:1-4
13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

This verse makes reference to a one world order rising from the people, nations.

13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

The main part of this verse that I want to point out is the dragon gave the beast it's power.

13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

In the "one world order" there should be peace, a war of some sort would cause the one world order to fail - the deadly wound!

13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

This verse shows that the dragon gave power to the beast, the dragon who gave power to the beast and who healed the deadly wound.

Satan went to war with God in order to "be God" Satan wanted to sit on the mercy seat which was intended for Christ. He was cast out:

Revelation 12:7-9
12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

After falling out of favor with God, losing the war in heaven and being cast to earth Satan is not going to let any other being take the position that he has coveted for so long and lost so much to obtain, that is, to play God.

There is other documentation in the Bible to support this, however we are trying to keep this paper as short as possible.
